Downloading data

Here, you can download the current version of SIDER 4.1, which has been released on October 21, 2015. This and previous versions can be found on the FTP site. Compared to the version released on August 6, 2015, this version uses side effect names from MedDRA in the download files. Furthermore, frequencies are extracted more accurately from the labels, and a number of medical concepts that do not represent side effects have been removed.
The package inserts contain information about the common and/or brand names of the drugs they describe. Based on this information, labels were mapped to STITCH 4.0 compound identifiers, which in turn are derived from PubChem compound identifiers. (These compound identifiers will change between major versions of STITCH, which happen every one or two years. Starting with SIDER 4, the same version number is used for STITCH and SIDER.)

Errors in SIDER

A large database such as SIDER is bound to contain errors. To allow users to remove known false annotations in between SIDER releases, we have created a GitHub repository of errors in SIDER. We welcome "bug reports" by users, either per email or per pull-request on GitHub.
