Refractory anaemia with an excess of blasts

Definition: A myelodysplastic syndrome characterized by the presence of 5-19% myeloblasts in the bone marrow or 2-19% blasts in the peripheral blood. It includes two categories: RAEB-1and RAEB-2. Cases with significant bone marrow reticulin fibrosis are called RAEB with fibrosis.
