Granuloma

Definition: An inflammatory reaction usually caused by infectious organisms, foreign bodies, or cholesterol deposits. It is characterized by the presence of epithelioid histiocytes and chronic inflammation. Often times giant cells are present. Necrosis is sometimes observed.
