Definition: acute and chronic mental disorders characterized by gross impairment in reality perception due to alcoholism; evidenced by delusions, hallucinations, markedly incoherent speech or disorganized and agitated behavior; includes alcohol withdrawal seizures and delirium, alcohol amnestic disorder and alcoholic neuropathies.
