Definition: Hypoglycemia that occurs during the neonatal period. Causes include inadequate hepatic glycogen stores, inadequate lipid stores, or inadequate amino acid muscle stores. Signs and symptoms include tachypnea, respiratory distress, tachycardia or bradycardia, lethargy, and seizures.
