Definition: The sliding of the uterus into the vaginal canal. It results from the weakening of the pelvic floor muscles and ligaments and is usually seen in postmenopausal women with several vaginal deliveries. Clinical manifestations include sensation of heaviness in the pelvis, urinary difficulties, and tissue protrusion from the vagina.
