Pitting edema
Definition: Swelling due to excessive accumulation of fluid under the skin defined by a persistent indentation when pressure is applied to the swollen area. Causes include systemic conditions (e.g., heart failure, liver failure, or kidney failure) and local conditions affecting the extremities.
